A Pause for the Cause
The Chateau Cultural Center was open for a little over 4 months sharing in cultural events including concerts, lectures, exhibitions and theatre events before the pandemic COVID-19 closed the doors in mid-March. Staff re-opened the doors mid-June per State of Minnesota Phase III COVID-19 regulations and welcomed visitors back into Chateau in the heart of the city at a 25% capacity per State allowance. As with many museums, cultural centers, restaurants-bars, retail and consumer facing businesses, 25% capacity is simply not sustainable.
While we wait for the world to recover and the State lifts the 25% capacity, our members & visitors return to gathering indoors again and visitors return to the heart of the city, Chateau is going to “Pause for the Cause.”
The pause will allow us to:
~ Work with the City and stakeholders to continue improving the facilities.
~ As Peace Plaza and Heart of City project is completed and the health safety capacity due to COVID-19 increases to program concerts, community events, theatre events and welcome the nearly 400 persons per day back to the Chateau to celebrate arts+culture+community, we will once again celebrate together.
~ Continue to work with Chateau Committee and Members on future programming, marketing-communications, and facility improvements.
Until then, if you are interested in a rental or private tour of the Chateau, please contact us at 507 261 2152 or 651 222 1121 Monday-Friday 8am-5pm CT.
Until then, we will “Pause for the Cause,”
Amy Noble Seitz, CEO Exhibits Development Group
We invite you to the newly renovated and repurposed Historic Chateau Theatre. In 2019, the City of Rochester and the Destination Medical Center selected Exhibits Development Group (EDG) to lead the next chapter for the Historic Chateau ca. 1927. Chateau is a community cultural center where creativity, inclusivity, and culture intersect featuring world-class traveling exhibitions, live music, lecture programs, bespoke retail and salon-cafe in charming theater.
As a community resource, we are poised to offer Mayo visitors & the Rochester community a place to “BE” and appreciate the city’s rich culture and diverse lifestyles. Our ever-changing programming engages locals and visitors alike while sparking the curiosity of Rochester’s next generation of problem solvers and innovators through outreach and STEaM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics -based education initiatives which is a core component of EDG mission.
Due to the pandemic and the reluctancy of the members and visitors being indoors, Chateau is temporarily closed to the public. The Chateau is available for private events and member events. Contact us at +1 507 261 2152 or info@chateaurochester,com for more information.
